Andre Ethier

  • Major League Baseball outfielder Andre Ethier currently plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

    Ethier was originally drafted on June 5, 2001 by the Oakland Athletics, but did not sign, and attended Arizona State University instead. He was again drafted in 2003 by the Athletics, this time signing with them on July 1, 2003.

    After spending his first few seasons with the Athletics' minor league affiliates, he was traded on December 13, 2005 to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

    Ethier was called up to make his MLB debut with the Dodgers on May 2, 2006. He played 126 games his rookie season, hitting 50 runs and finishing with a .308 batting average. Ethier also came in fifth in voting for the MLB Rookie of the Year Award that season.

    He continued on the Dodgers full roster in 2007, playing in 153 games, hitting 50 runs and finishing with a .284 batting average.

    When not playing baseball, Ethier is active in the community, often visiting Children's Hospitals and U.S. military veterans.
