Anderson Varejao is a Forward-Center combo player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. It has been argued that Varejao might just be the Cavaliers’ most important player after LeBron James. With the Cavaliers, Anderson Varejao provides excellent defense and amazing energy. His offensive skill set is a bit limited, but Varejao more than makes up for it with his help defense and hustle. Varejao has a great knack for being able to secure a crucial rebound or draw an important foul. He’s the kind of player you want on your team, but hate when you have to face him.
Anderson Varejao works extremely well with LeBron James and in the Cavaliers' system. While he may not have a great repertoire offensively, more often than not Varejao is in the right place for a pass or cutting for a layup. His skill set may not be pretty, but it is refined. Anderson Varejao does what it takes to get a win and you can never have enough players like that on your team. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/anderson_varejao/index.html
Anderson Varejao 2009-10 Season
The 2009-2010 season has been a great year for Anderson Varejao. His defense and hustle were placed at a premium with the Cavaliers as he received some chatter for Sixth Man of the Year. Varejao’s averages six points and nearly nine rebounds may not look like that big of a deal, but most of what he does for the Cavaliers doesn’t show up in the box score. Anderson Varejao does the little things that it takes to win. Whether it be setting a good screen or tipping an offensive rebound back to his team, Varejao does the dirty work and he does it very well.
Going forward Varejao is going to be a big piece for the Cavaliers’ future. Over the summer the Cavaliers gave Varejao a new, 5-year contract. Obviously they plan on keeping him around for a long while. As anyone that watches the Cavaliers play can tell you, that’s a very good thing. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/anderson_varejao/index.html http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/cle/roster
