The movie, directed by Federico Fellini, stars Freddie Jones and Barbara Jefford, and was directed by Federico Fellini. It was filmed in a combination of Sepia and color tones in the Italian language. The Italian name is E la nave va. The plot involves a group of friends gathered upon a luxurious cruise ship to mourn the loss of opera singer Edmea Tetua. It recieved a 15 minute standing ovation at the 40th annual Venice Film Festival.
  • Plot Synopsis

    And the Ship Sales On is based in 1914; World War 1. A famous opera singer, Edmea Tetua has passed away and her wishes are to have her ashes scattered on the ocean near the island of Erimo, her birthplace. Guests include not only her friends, but other famous celebrities and opera singers. One of the guests is Orlando, a journalist, who's purpose is to directly address and narrate to the audience, providing humor and gossip. The movie takes place aboard luxury liner Gloria N.

    As Tetua was known for her famous and goddess-like voice, there are undoubtedly some jealous passengers on board. One passenger, a soprano, tries to discover the secret or Tetua's voice. Another is simply there to seduce the sailors for hopes of a better future. There are themes of sex and making fun of those less fortunate throughout the movie.
