And Soon the Darkness Reviews

  • "The title for this remake of Robert Fuest’s 1970 film should be And Soon the Obvious… Whether or not you’re a fan of the original, at least it tried for some suspense, tension and mystery. Unfortunately, in first-time feature director Marcos Efron’s redux, none of those elements are present."—Fangoria Magazinehttp://www.fangoria.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2917:and-soon-the-darkness-2010-dvdblu-ray-review&catid=58:dvd-blu-ray-reviews&Itemid=182
  • "But most surprising about And Soon the Darkness -- aside from the fact that there is hardly any darkness in the film whatsoever -- is that it primarily avoids the newly coined cliches of the horror-porn genre, somehow delivering a film about young female torture that doesn't dwell in grotesque gore or salacious sexual content. It's still pretty lame-brained and obvious, make no mistake, but it manages to separate itself from other recent films, which are lame-brained and amoral."—Jason McKiernan, AMC Film Critichttp://www.filmcritic.com/reviews/2010/and-soon-the-darkness/
  • "The first thing you see in writer/director Marcos Efron’s new thriller, “And Soon the Darkness”, a remake of a 1970 British film of the same name, is a young, scantily clad woman, chained to a wall, get electrocuted by some unseen villain. This gives you the immediate impression that the film is going to be another torture porn. So it is a pleasant surprise when “And Soon the Darkness” instead turns out to be a tight, well-executed suspense film. It isn’t exploring any new territory, but for what it is, it is well done."—Brent McKnight of Beyond Hollywoodhttp://www.beyondhollywood.com/and-soon-the-darkness-2010-movie-review/
