  • An Anal Fissure is a break in the anoderm, the skin lining the anus. This tear can cause pain or bleeding. An anal fissure can either be acute or chronic, and is a fairly common condition of this area of the body. The anal canal's midline posterior region is the location of ninety percent of anal fissure cases. For most patients, recovery takes about four to six weeks.
