Anaheim Dallas Quarterfinals

Categories: Sports
  • In the first round of the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the #4 seeded Anaheim Ducks will face-off against the #5 seeded Dallas Stars in a Western Conference quarterfinal series. This page will provide information about this playoff series. The Ducks are the defending Stanley Cup champions, having defeated the Ottawa Senators last June. It marked the first time the Stanley Cup had ever been won by a team from the Pacific time zone. Anaheim had also reached the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals, reaching Game Seven before losing to the New Jersey Devils. The Ducks have now reached post-season play three straight times, and in four of the last five seasons. The Dallas Stars are making their five consecutive playoff appearance, and have now participated in the playoffs in 10 of the last 11 post-seasons. The Stars are attempting to reach the Stanley Cup Finals for the first team since they made back-to-back finals appearances in 1999 and 2000. They defeated Buffalo in 1999 to win their only championship, then came up short in 2000 against New Jersey. The franchise also made one other finals appearance, losing as the Minnesota North Stars in 1991 to Pittsburgh.
