Ana Lucia Cortez was a character on ABC’s series Lost, and was played by Michelle Rodriguez. Due to her street smarts and take-charge nature, Ana Lucia became the leader of the Tail-section survivors.

Before the Island

Before the crash Ana Lucia was a Police Officer living in Los Angeles. She became pregnant, but unfortunately lost her baby when she was shot by a suspect. After sending many months in therapy, a suspect was arrested. She would not identify him, so they released him. She followed him to a bar and shot him outside. Following that, she left the Police force and started working as a security guard at an airport. It is there that she met Christian Shephard, and he asks her to go with him to Sydney as his bodyguard. However after arriving there they went their separate ways. Anna Lucia then bought a ticket for Oceanic Flight 815 to go back to Los Angeles. When the plane crashed, Ana Lucia was on the tail section.

On the Island

After the tail section crashed into the ocean, Anna Lucia tried to help all in need. When night fell, however, some of the survivors were kidnapped by the Others. A few nights after that, nine more were taken. During the second attack, she killed an Other and his list with descriptions of some of the survivors. The group traveled inland and found a bunker called the Arrow. Shortly after that, Anna Lucia discovered Goodwin was secretly an Other and she killed him. After Libby and Cindy found Jin washed on shore they brought him to Ana Lucia. Jin ran away so Ana Lucia followed him to Michael and Sawyer. The Tail section survivors threw the three men into a pit, Ana Lucia went into the pit and pretended that she was also taken. They convinced her that they were also 815 survivors, so she lets them go. She and her small group decided to join the large group at the beach. On the way there, Shannon startled Anna Lucia, and she shot Shannon. She felt very sorry for killing Shannon. Once on the Beach she was asked to interrogate a man who claimed to be named Henry Gale, he gave her a map to the balloon he said he crashed in. She, along with Charlie and Sayid, found the crashed balloon along with the body of the real Henry Gale. She tried to talk to Henry again, but he assaulted her in an effort to kill her. She tried to shoot him, but couldn’t seem to do it.
