Reviews
"No movie I've seen in a very long time has touched me so deeply, or bestowed so much pleasure."—Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journalhttp://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703746604574461011289453516.html
"An Education is an unqualified breakout because it is the rare Sundance film that's both artistically and commercially strong. It's a breakout because it shows the well-regarded (Lone) Scherfig in a new, box-office friendly light. Finally, it's a discovery for (Carey) Mulligan, the type of career-changing performance that few actresses ever receive. Scherfig and (Nick) Hornby give Mulligan the chance to shine in An Education but her work and talent exceed all expectations."—IndieWireIndieWire: A Triumph for Director and Star (January 20. 2009)
"Every so often a performance comes along that is so captivating that it becomes an instant classic. Carey Mulligan's enchanting performance as Jenny is one of them. Channeling the spirit of a young Holly Golightly, she makes Jenny's character blossom on screen from a girl into a woman, and transforms herself from an actor into a star. Director Lone Scherfig's complete understanding of Nick Hornby's extraordinary script brings its many dimensions to vivid life."—Sundance 2009Sundance 2009: An Education Overview
