Amy Tan is an American author and public speaker who has written five novels and two children's books. Her fictional style commonly deals with topics of mother-daughter relationships, immigrant families, and Chinese-American cultural difficulties. Her most well-known novel is The Joy Luck Club, which was first published in 1989 and adapted into a feature film in 1993. She is currently the literary editor for the Los Angeles Times' magazine, West.
