Amy Madigan is an American actress from Chicago, Illinois who gained notoriety for her role as Chanice Kobolowski in the 1989 hit comedy Uncle Buck. Madigan also played the role of Annie Kinsella in the 1989 film Field of Dreams staring Kevin Costner. She won a Golden Globe Award in 1985 for "New Star of the Year in a Motion Picture" for the film Very Long Engagement. Madigan is also a political activist and has served on the National board of NARAL Pro-Choice America, a pro-choice a women's rights organization. Amy and husband, Ed Harris protested at the 2000 Academy Awards by not clapping during Elia Kazan's acceptance of his honorary Oscar because of Kazan's contribution to Hollywood blacklisting during the Cold War.
Amy studied philosophy at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and piano at the Chicago Conservatory Her acting credentials come from the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
Madigan will be playing the role of psychiatrist on the hit show Grey's Anatomy. She is scheduled for all five final shows of the season. No news yet on her continuing next fall.
