Bryan Elementary School math teacher Amy King grabbed the steering wheel of a moving school bus when its driver passed out.
The bus was carrying 44 children to Chattanooga's Tennessee Aquarium on a field trip. King grabbed the wheel and straightened the bus out so it wouldn't hit oncoming traffic. The bus sideswiped about 200 feet of guardrail before it landed upside down in a ditch. King was thrown through the windshield and airlifted to UAB Hospital. She is listed in serious condition.
The accident is being investigated by Alabama State Troopers.
