This Museum was founded in 1869 by Theodore Roosevelt, Sr., the father of the 26th U.S. President, was one of the founders along with John David Wolfe, William T. Blodgett, Robert L. Stuart.
In 1874, the first cornerstone for this museum's was set. This is now hidden from view by the many buildings in the complex that today occupy most of Manhattan Square today.
