American Inventor

American Inventor is a reality competition show in which contestants present their best inventions in an attempt to win the cash prize of $1 million. ABC has pulled all the show's websites and it is rumored that the show will not return for a third season.

Contestants bring their best inventions in front of judges Nick Smith, George Foreman, Peter Jones to an initial vote. A candidate must receive a yes vote from two of the three judges. From the pool of people that passed this round, the judges narrow the field to 12 competitors, based on uniqueness, projected sales, creative drive, and usefulness of the product. The 12 semi-finalists receive $50,000 to further their invention in a quest to become one of the 4 finalists. The final winner is decided by the vote of the viewers after watching a 30 second infomercial.
