    American Idol is a singing competition held each year for anyone ages 16 to 28. It is televised twice weekly on FOX. There are 4 judges that determine whether a contestant is good enough to move to the next round. After narrowing the field to 36 singers, the American Idol winners are determined by the votes from the viewers of the show. Three groups of 12 sing weekly, with the top 3 making it to the final round of 12. Then 1 contestant is voted off weekly. The winner receives $1 million and a recording contract.
