American Idol Top 11

  • The American Idol Top 11 was revealed on March 11, 2009. The top 11 were chosen from the Top 13 that were revealed on March 5, 2009.
  • Season 8

    After showing a montage of people Idol producers believe shouldn't have been eliminated, Ryan Seacrest announced that up until the top 5 the judges can save 1 contestant, 1 time only. If the veto is used, two contestants will leave the following week.

    The contestants opened the show with a montage of Jackson 5 songs. The first of the many Ford commercials featuring the contestants. The commercial was set to the Queen song "We Will Rock You," highlighting the Ford Fusion.

    Jasmine Murray was the first contestant eliminated, the judges decided not to save her.

    Kanye West sung his hit "Heartless" from the album 808s and Heartbreak. Kelly Clarkson sang "My Life Would Suck Without You", from the album All I Ever Wanted.

    Jorge Nunez Mendez was the second contestant eliminated.

  • Season 7

    The American Idol Season 7 Top 11 were announced on the March 12, 2008 airing of the program. The episode was preceded by the American Idol Beatles night which highlighted songs from the John Lennon-Paul McCartney songbook. Performances from the night included "Got To Get You Into My Life", "If I Fell", and "Eleanor Rigby".

    Arizona native David Hernandez auditioned in Los Angeles with the song "Ain't Too Proud To Beg". During his tenure on American Idol he dubbed one of "The Davids" (the others including David Cook and David Archuleta). Controversy surrounded Hernandez who rumors surfaced that he was a former male stripper at a nightclub named Dick's Cabaret. Ultimately Hernandez was eliminated after his performance of The Beatles hit "I Saw Her Standing There".
