- Get ready for Grand Ole Opry tonight! The show was opened with a montage of many of country music's greats including Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and more. Recently, Carrie Underwood was invited by Randy Travis to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry. He'll be the mentor for tonight.
- Michael Sarver sang "Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up" originally by Garth Brooks.
- Randy said it was a cool song choice, just not sure that it showed off Michaels Sarver's vocal ability. Kara missed hearing the big notes, but was impressed that Michael was able to remember the lyrics to the song. Paula said that it was a great Garth Brooks song and it was nice to see Sarver have fun on stage. Simon said that it should have been good, but that he couldn't understand what Michael was singing, it could have been in Norwegian. On a scale of 1-10, Simon gave it a 1.2. Sarver commented that he's glad it wasn't a zero.

- Alison Iraheta sang "Blame It On Your Heart" by Patty Loveless.
- The audience loved it. Kara thinks Allison can sing the alphabet and sing it well. She thinks that every week Allison is getting better and better. Paula said that it is another rock solid performance from Allison. Simon thought it was good, but a little bit tuneless in parts. Randy thought it was "dope."

- Kris Allen sang "To Make You Feel My Love" originally made popular by Garth Brooks.
- Paula says she is pleasantly surprised at his honest, pure and vulnerable performance and it allowed him to show off his vocals. A few pitchy moments, but overall a good performance. Simon thought "it was terrific." Great choice of song and it's probably the first time Simon thought Kris has a shot at doing very well in this competition. Randy said "wow, tender moments from my dog Kris." Kara didn't even recognize the song as country, she said it was "beautiful."

- Lil Rounds sang "Independence Day" by Martina McBride.
- Randy said that it was an interesting song choice, but the beginning was weird for him. The ending got better because she was able to open up. It was "kinda all-right." Kara says that we would have to be deaf not to know Lil is a great singer, but was proud of Lil for singing a song she "felt." Paula thought everything went right for Lil tonight, from her vocals to her hair and makeup. Paula felt that if Lil had not sang two verses it may have been better. Simon compared it to Lil being forced to sing a song at a wedding that she really isn't comfortable with. Lil interrupted Simon and said that she was trying to show the public what she could do. Simon interrupted her, saying that it was the wrong song choice.

- Adam Lambert sang "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash. Randy Travis doesn't have a clue what to about Adam's version of the song, or the black nail polish Adam wears.
- Kara said "so, Adam does country music." She thinks the Egyptian thing and the fire is all strange, but she "kinda liked it, it left me confused and sorta happy." Paula thought Adam was true to who he is as an artist. Paula loved the middle eastern sounds in the song. Simon said "what the hell was that?" Simon recommends that Adam never go international because "there are probably a lot of people throwing out their television sets and that it was absolute rubbish." Randy disagreed, saying it was like Nine Inch Nails doing a country song, "it's fresh, it's hot!"

- Scott MacIntyre sang "Wild Angels" by Martina McBride. Randy Travis originally was worried about Scott's song choice, but after working with him to change the tempo, Randy thought that Scott would do "just fine."
- Paula said that tonight was another impressive performance, and realizes that Scott works harder than most of the contestants. She feels that Scott's work with the piano might be a bit of a crutch for him though, and wants people to see Scott as a "showman" also. Scott laughs and tells her "we can move it (the piano) closer." Simon thought Paula's comment was "stupid" because Scott is very comfortable behind the piano. Simon went on to say "Elton John used to always sit behind a piano, and there's nothing wrong with that." Simon does want to see different types of songs, as his performances are looking very similar to each other. Randy thinks it's not the songs, he's looking for hot, crazy vocals from Scott. Kara wants Scott to up his game and "wow us."

- Alexis Grace sang "Jolene" by Dolly Parton. Randy Travis said he wouldn't change a thing about her performance and feels Dolly would be proud.
- Randy said it was a great song, but wasn't sure she hit the notes quite right. Kara thinks Alexis lost her edge a little bit with the song choice, it fell a little flat. Paula thought the song was effective for Alexis because she took at artistic approach and was able to show a different side of herself. Simon thought it was OK, but that it wasn't original enough.

- Danny Gokey sang "Jesus Take The Wheel" by Carrie Underwood. While in front of Randy Travis, Danny struggled to remember the lyrics to the song, causing Randy great concern. While performing live, he did remember all the words and received a standing ovation.
- Kara said "when you hit your stride, it's like none other." Half way through, Kara felt that Danny connected with the song and she loved it. Paula disagrees, saying that Danny was "brilliant" and feels that Carrie Underwood would not only approve, but would rush out to buy the record. Simon doesn't think Ms. Underwood would purchase it, but agrees with Paula that the light and shade Danny shows is good. Simon's only problem is Danny's choice of clothes. Randy agrees with Kara, saying he needs to support the verses of the song better but that he's a great singer.

- Anoop Desai sang "You Are Always On My Mind" by Willie Nelson. Randy Travis gave him a bit of advice on the song on holding out notes and said "it's God damn good."
- Paula said "Anoop is back! He's back everybody!" She said the song fit Anoop like a glove and she's really proud of him and his vocals. Simon said that Anoop went from "zero to hero. That was one of my favorite performances of the night. Good for you. I take back what I said, you definitely deserve to be in this show. Glad to have you back." Randy said this is the reason they wanted him in the competition. "The arrangement was dope." Kara said she had thought it was an untouchable song, but Anoop turned it in to the best performance of the night.

- Megan Joy Corkery sang "Walkin' After Midnight" by Patsy Cline. Randy Travis said that her version was totally unexpected and unique.
- Randy was quite impressed and loved her "Megan thing" that she added to the song. Kara said it was a perfect song for her and mentioned that Megan had the flu and not a lot of people could perform like that being sick. Paula said that Megan is a fighter for performing sick. Simon agrees, saying that Megan should have the flu every night, but that he doesn't like her stylist because she's losing her quirkiness.

- Matt Giraud sang "So Small" by Carrie Underwood. Randy Travis was surprised at Matt's version and thought that people would love Matt.
- Kara opened up with "Matt, there ain't nothing small about you. Amazing." Paula thought the honestly Matt brought was unparalleled. Simon doesn't think Matt has received enough credit for his vocals and thinks he outsang Danny Gokey. Simon then compared Matt to Michael Buble and said that it was one of the best performances of the night. Randy also said it was his favorite of the night and that the miles between Justin Timberlake and Michael Buble are great, and Matt's been compared to both of them.

- Ryan thinks the veto may be used tonight? But first, an odd version of Travis Tritt's "Trouble" for the group performance. They have Scott at the piano this time, instead of having another contestant place him on stage.
- The Ford ad featured the song "Here It Goes" by OK Go.
- Michael Sarver shared a personal moment, telling Ryan the difficulties of being away from his daughter.
- Allison Iraheta and Michael Sarver were the first two contestants to be in the bottom three.
- Brad Paisley sang "Then" from his yet to be released album American Saturday Night.
- Alexis Grace also hit the bottom three. Allison was quickly sent back with the other contestants and told she was safe.
- Randy Travis and Carrie Underwood sang the duet "I Told You So," originally a number 1 hit by Randy Travis in 1998. (Randy's guitar isn't plugged in though, looks like it's just there for show.)
- Michael Sarver is safe! The judges decided not to use their veto power, Alexis Grace has been eliminated.
