American Foxhound

The American foxhound is a medium-large dog that is part of the American Kennel Club hound group. The breed was domesticated in North America in the 1600s.

Although pure-bred American foxhounds are generally healthy, they may face blood clots and eye problems. Additionally, some American foxhounds may have hip and ear issues.

American foxhounds are commonly used as hunting companions. Many families choose to keep American foxhounds as household pets because of their sweet nature and compatibility with children. They require plenty of daily exercise or they may become destructive, especially if left home alone for extended periods of time. The breed can vary in terms of their protective nature, with some embracing unfamiliar people and others barking to alert of an intruder.
