AMC Gremlin

The AMC Gremlin is a subcompact car that was produced by the American Motors Corporation. The Gremlin was produced from 1970 to 1978, with a total of 671,475 being made. It was the first US built subcompact car of the seventies. Juxtaposed to the Ford Pinto and Chevrolet Vega, the Gremlin had no engineering or production defects that seriously ruined it's public image. As the lowest priced car made in USA for many years, the majority of Gremlins were made and sold as low option base models and they have been a regular target for status driven derision. Otherwise, the more well optioned ones are become true collector cars for features such as Levis interior and V8 engine.
