Missing teenager Amber DuBois of Escondido, California, vanished while walking to school on the morning of February 13, 2009. Reports say a classmate claims she saw the 14-year-old DuBois two days after she disappeared, walking with an "unidentified person" near her home. Police continue to search for the teen, and a massive volunteer search effort on Saturday, February 21, 2009, turned up no clues. Amber LeeAnn DuBois was last seen around 7 a.m. on February 13, 2009. According to reports, DuBois was walking in the general direction of Escondido High School when she vanished. Police have said DuBois' cell phone was operational for a brief period of time on February 14, and a classmate claims to have seen DuBois walking with an "unidentified person" near her home on February 15, 2009—two days after she disappeared. Just over one week after DuBois vanished, hundreds of searchers fanned out across the North Escondido, California, in hopes of finding the teen.
