Amanda Tapping

Canadian actress Amanda Tapping plays "Colonel: Samantha Carter" on science fiction TV shows Stargate SG-1 , Stargate Atlantis and a cameo appearance in the pilot for Stargate Universe. She stars in and produces supernatural series Sanctuary For All, which began on the Web and will air on the Sci-Fi Channel.

Born sometime in the Victorian era, Helen Magnus was one of the first female medical doctors. Magnus does not age, and cannot die from natural causes. In the modern era, she investigates supernatural phenomena.

Military physicist Samantha Carter "MacGyvered" a device that would operate the Stargate, a piece of alien technology which creates an interstellar wormhole, allowing users to travel to other planets. Over the course of the Stargate franchise, she's been inhabited by an alien entity, fallen in love with a higher being, been brought back from the dead, met at least twenty alternate-universe versions of herself, blown up a sun, and fought her evil Replicator duplicate. After saving the Earth several times, she has been promoted from captain to full bird colonel, and has been put in command of an outpost in another galaxy. Her dating life has been limited, as most of her suitors have wound up dead.
