• Stargate: Samantha Carter

  Military physicist Samantha Carter "MacGyvered" a device that would operate the Stargate, a piece of alien technology which creates an interstellar wormhole, allowing users to travel to other planets. Over the course of the Stargate franchise, she's been inhabited by an alien entity, fallen in love with a higher being, been brought back from the dead, met at least twenty alternate-universe versions of herself, blown up a sun, and fought her evil Replicator duplicate. After saving the Earth several times, she has been promoted from captain to full bird colonel, and has been put in command of an outpost in another galaxy. Her dating life has been limited, as most of her suitors have wound up dead.

  Born sometime in the Victorian era, Helen Magnus was one of the first female medical doctors. Magnus does not age, and cannot die from natural causes. In the modern era, she investigates supernatural phenomena.
