Amanda Overmyer

Amanda Overmyer was a Top 11 finalist on American Idol Season 7. She was eliminated from the show on March 19, 2008, after her performance of "Back in the U.S.S.R" during The Beatles theme week. During her run on the show she was known as the rocker nurse and was likened to Janis Joplin.

Overmyer joined her first band in her late teens and continued to perform with various bands, including Steeleto and Ruinaces, until she received her Golden Ticket to the Hollywood round of American Idol.

Overmyer received her nursing degree from Ivy Tech Community College and is a health-care specialist dealing mainly with respiratory issues.

Since leaving the show Overmyer has booked a gig for May 24, 2008, at Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood. Rumors have also circulated that she may portray Janis Joplin in a movie about Whisky A Go Go.
