During a radio interview, Olympic gold medalist Amanda Beard emphatically denied rumors of a romantic relationship with Michael Phelps. While elaborating, Beard made what some are calling inappropriate comments. Responding to the idea of a relationship between the two, Beard stated on 93.7 KRQ in Tucson's Johnjay and Rich in the Morning show, "Eww, that's nasty!" In February 2009 swimmer Amanda Beard compared the controversy surrounding fellow swimmer Michael Phelps' bong photo to the controversy she attracted when posing for Playboy in 2007.
