Amanda Beard is an American Olympic swimming medalist and model. She has won two gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze medal over three separate Olympiads. Beard announced her engagement to photographer Sasha Brown to Us Magazine on February 13, 2009. Beard told Us, "We got engaged on Christmas day. It was really simple. Beard filed suit against the tanning salon, ProSun, in the L.A. County Superior Court in early December 2008 claiming that they used a photo of her on their website without her permission. At the age of 14, Beard qualified for the 1996 United States Olympic Swimming Team and she delivered. She won gold in the 4 x 100 medley and silver in the 100 meter breaststroke and 200 meter breaststroke. In 2000, she won the bronze in the 200 meter breaststroke and followed that up by winning three more medals in the 2004 games capturing gold in the 200 meter breaststroke and silver in the 200 meter medley and 4 x 100 medley. To help supplement her income, Beard has taken modeling assignments, appearing in the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and the July 2007 edition of Playboy.
