Aluminum Christmas trees are artificial retro-style trees typically silver in color. Many other colors are common, the rarest being the pink Christmas tree. They were often used with a color wheel to produce colorful shimmering in the tree. Aluminum trees were very popular in the late 1950s and 1960s.

By the winter of 1959, the first aluminum trees were on the market. They called their tree "The Evergleam" and advertised it as a permanent alternative to standard pine trees. Popularity faded after 1965. "The Evergleam" was manufactured until 1969.
Some of the rarer and more valuable styles are pompom-ended branches and trees tinted pink.
Finding Aluminum Christmas Trees
If you have your heart set on having a retro aluminum Christmas tree this holiday, you can find them in many retail stores and on the Internet. Potential online sources for the trees include Amazon, Home Trends, Off the Deep End and Hammacher Schlemmer. In addition, check eBay - many people will auction off older aluminum Christmas trees they no longer use. Prices may rise and bidding could become more competitive for the trees as the Christmas holiday approaches, so if possible, try to secure your tree well beforehand.
