Career
Brown received a degree in drama from the University of Georgia and spent time working in cinematography and film production.
Brown was unhappy with the nature of cooking shows and wanted to produce them himself. He then enrolled in the New England Culinary Institute and graduated in 1997.
He currently hosts several shows on the Food Network, which include Good Eats and Iron Chef America. He published his award winning book, I'm Just Here for the Food, in 2003.
In January 2008, Alton signed on to the Food Network for three more years. More Good Eats, Iron Chef America and his newest show, Feasting on Waves. The show premieres in the summer of 2008 and according to Food Network, "Brown goes in search of America's culinary roots and Caribbean flavors."Food Network: Feasting on Waves
