Altervista.org is an Italian website that offers free web hosting services, including PHP and MySQL. With it, users can create websites, blogs, galleries and forums. They also provide a web searching service.

History
The site was opened on the December 22, 2000, without any funding. In 2002, due to a large flood of visitors, the site's hardware had to be upgraded. Since then, it has undergone massive design overhauls to become the site it is today. Altervista has approximately a 385 Alexa.com traffic rank and gets around ten thousand visits per day. As of July 2009, more than 816,000 websites had been created using Altervista.org. -
