  • A popular Indian dish from Punjab, aloo gobi features potatoes and cauliflower seasoned with tumeric and various combinations of onion seeds, curry leaves, garlic, ginger, onion, coriander stalks, cumin and tomato.

  • Bend It Like Beckham

    The film Bend It Like Beckham, about an Indian British woman torn between her parents' desire for her to live a traditional life and her urge to play soccer, featured aloo gobi prominently. One tag line used to promote the film was "Who wants to cook aloo gobi when you can bend a ball like Beckham?" In the DVD release, one extra feature showed director Gurinder Chadha demonstrating how to cook aloo gobi, and a recipe for the dish was also included.
