Alone in the Dark, also known as Alone in the Dark 5, is a survival horror video game made for several next-gen consoles. The game was developed by Hydravision Entertainment for the PS3 and Wii and by Eden Games for the PC, PS2 and Xbox 360.

Edward Carnby has been noticing strange occurrences around New York City's Central Park. People have been whispering about the connection between these happenings and the park's underground tunnels. Carnby must do battle with bizarre creatures to answer the questions about the secret tunnels and the supernatural incidents within the city.

Though the mystery of Central Park in the game has not been verified, possible rumors include mutated trees and overgrown, violent insects.

Alone in the Dark has a DVD movie-like format. The game is separated into sections where users can replay parts of the game or skip those that are too difficult. At the end of each section, there is a suspense-filled conclusion followed by a teaser for the next section of the game. After lodaing a saved game, a recap of the previous section displays including any remaining tasks for that section. Certain actions in the game will require the completion of mini-tasks before gameplay can continue.

Alone in the Dark was originally developed by Infogrames in 1992 for the PC and the 3DO systems. It was one of the first survival horror games released, along with Capcom's Sweet Home. The 2008 version of the game is a remake of the original with updated graphics.
