The original
Alone in the Dark video game was released in
1992 and has since been credited with launching the 3D
survival horror genre. It was set in the
1920s and told the story of Edward Carnby, a paranormal detective. The fifth game in the series, also titled
Alone in the Dark, takes place in the Central Park of
2008. Players once again fill the shoes of Edward Carnby, who has not aged a bit. He must fight his way through the park and key locations within it, such as Belvedere Castle and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His weapons are anything feasible that crosses his path and players can combine items to create new tools for destroying enemies. For example, a can of first-aid spray paired with a cigarette lighter produces a flamethrower. Construct a Molotov Cocktail with a bottle of flammable liquid and a rag.
