On April 22, 2008, Atari announced the upcoming release of a limited edition box set for Alone in the Dark. So far, only Europe has been confirmed as a carrier, but rumors and speculation of other territories receiving it at a later date have been widespread. Sony’s Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 platforms were also noticeably missing in the press release as well, although this may have been due to delays.

Alone in the Dark is a survival-horror game set around Edward Carnby's investigation of mysterious paranormal disturbances occurring within Central Park. The game's storyline will unfold in a manner similar to that of a major television series series such as 24, with each episode ending on a cliffhanger. Once a player chooses to exit the game, a teaser for the next episode will play and, when he/she resumes, a brief recap of events will remind them of their objectives.
