Fire in Alone in the Dark is dynamic. It is not scripted and spreads realistically to nearby flammable surfaces in real time. Objects that catch on fire eventually break down and burn away to ashes.
Set a piece of wood on fire and use it as a torch to illuminate your path. And, of course, use fire as a versatile tool to take down enemies. Launch a bottle filled with flammable liquid into the air and shoot it with your gun to create an explosion. Or take that same bottle, stuff a rag down its neck and use your lighter to create a Molotov cocktail.
Many of the paranormal enemies encountered in the game are particularly susceptible to fire. Dip your bullets into flammable liquid and your gunshots will leave a flaming hole in your opponent.
