Spanish gymnast Almudena Cid has competed in the rhythmic gymnastics event at the Summer Olympics since the 1996 Summer Games. Cid was selected to represent Spain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.NBC Olympics: Almudena Cid
Gymnastics Career
Cid began competing in rhythmic gymnastics competitions in 1990, when she was 10 years old. She represented Spain in her first World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in 1995 and took home fifth place with the Spanish team. Cid has competed in the nine world championships since, but has never finished higher than fourth in team or individual competitions. In 2003, she was awarded the Longines Prix of Elegance, which recognizes gymnasts for femininity and style.
