Almost Famous is a semi-autobiographical film by screenwriter/director Cameron Crowe. It is about a teenage boy, William Miller (played by Patrick Fugit), with dreams of becoming a journalist who is given the opportunity to go on tour with the rock band Stillwater and write an article about them for Rolling Stone magazine. Though Stillwater is fictional, the band members (and the songs) are based on actual bands that Crowe went on tour with in the '70s, including Led Zeppelin and The Allman Brothers. Almost Famous won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
