Alltel is a recently privatized telecommunications company based in Little Rock, Arkansas. They were purchased by TPG Capital and GS Capital Partners for $27.5 billion. Since they were founded in 1943, their network has spread throughout 34 states. In November 2008, the FCC voted to allow Verizon to purchase Alltel for $28.1 billion.
