Career
Allen Daviau shot publicity films for Jimi Hendrix and The Who before working on Steven Spielberg's short Amblin' in 1968.Allmovie: Allen Daviau Biography In the 1970s, he shot several TV movies like Mooch Goes to Hollywood and The Boy Who Drank Too Much.
In 1982, Daviau reunited with Spielberg on E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, which garnered him his first Academy Award nomination. He collaborated with Spielberg again on The Color Purple and Empire of the Sun, for which Daviau won an American Society of Cinematographers Award and a BAFTA Award.IMDb: Allen Daviau Awards
In 2007, Daviau was honored again by the American Society of Cinematographers, receiving the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his work.
