All-Pro Football 2K8 is a football game for the next-generation consoles Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game is considered the successor to the ESPN NFL 2K series, which disappeared after the National Football League entered into an exclusive rights agreement with EA Sports. All-Pro Football 2K8 features former NFL players Barry Sanders, John Elway and Jerry Rice on the cover; however, they're in generic jerseys. The game received above-average reviews from video game critics.
Gameplay:
All-Pro Football 2K8 does not feature any current National Football League players but includes more than 200 former and retired professional football players. The game has 24 teams, but all teams, much like the NFL, play a 16-game schedule, with a playoff following the end of the regular season. Some moves, not allowed in the NFL, are allowed in the game, including horse-collar tackles. Late hits can be performed (unlike in the Madden series), but they carry a 15-yard penalty. The game also has online play, which can be altered based on a player's preference toward the rules.
Team creation:
One of the features in All-Pro Football 2K8 is the ability to create a team from scratch. Players can choose 11 star players: two gold players, three silver players and six bronze players. Using all of the stars on offensive players means the defense will be weak. The same can be said for doing the same on the defensive end. The goal is to create a team with strong players on both sides.
