All in the Family is an American sitcom that focused on a politically incorrect bigot Archie Bunker and his family. Bunker (played by Carroll O'Conner), is a stubborn, loud mouthed, bigoted and working class New Yorker who often ends up in heated arguments with both strangers and members of his own family. All in the Family pushed the boundaries of what themes and language could be broadcast on TV at the time. Many of the episodes used Archie's ignorance as a springboard to explore such topics as racism, the Vietnam War and social change. The show aired from 1971-1979 and spawned several spin-offs.
