Story
Based on the events of the classic James Cameron 1986 film Aliens, players take command of a squad of Colonial Marines as they defend humanity against a plague of Xenomorphs. The Xenomorphs, as seen in the various Alien films, are an extremely violent alien race with acid for blood. They have a strange life cycle that includes infecting humans with a parasitic larva that bursts through the chest after an incubation period. Written by Battlestar Galactica scribes Bradley Thompson and David Weddle, players will find themselves fighting off "the bugs" in a variety of locations and planets, including unused set designs from the movie itself.Kotaku.com: Sega Drops Details On Aliens: Colonial Marines (February 21, 2008) Syd Mead, the designer on the movie Aliens, is also developing conceptual art for the game.Shacknews.com: Gearbox Talks Aliens Creative Team: BSG Writers, Original Film Artists, Craig Mullins July 22, 2008Gameplay
In single-player mode, players command a four-man squad of Colonial Marines. Each Marine has a specific weapons focus, including smart guns, pulse rifles and flame throwers. Players can select between the different characters at will. In multiplayer, players will each command a single Marine. The on-screen HUD has been eliminated, forcing players to rely on HUDs built into weapons and tracking devices.CVG: Preview: Aliens: Colonial Marines (April 1, 2008)-
