Edible Schoolyard
Began in 1995 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in Berkeley, California, the Edible Schoolyard began as a garden where students were able to participate each month in tending to its basic needs. Today the one-acre garden, which is funded by the Chez Panisse foundation, is the source of abundant fruits, herbs, vegtables and flowers. The program has welcomed 1,000 visitors each year from educators to international delegates to those in health-related fields, and continues to foster and inspire awareness. Currently there are several affiliate programs in place, including the first one that was launched in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2005.Official Site: [1]-
