Alice in Wonderland is a series of adaptations of the beloved Lewis Carroll children's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Lewis's book, published first in 1865 was first presented as a movie by Disney in 1951.
A number of live theatrical versions, movies, television shows, and musicals have been presented since the original book was written. A new live adapted film will be released March 5, 2010. Starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and directed by Tim Burton the new Alice in Wonderland is a magical adventure through the looking glass. The classic children's treasure, Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, has been shared with children over many generations. The classic Alice in Wonderland book has been rewritten in levels of understanding for toddlers as well as enjoyed by adults over the years. Carroll's original book was published only in 2000 copies almost all of which were recalled when the artist was not happy with the pictures. 1951 Disney Classic - First Alice in Wonderland Movie
The classic movie, build around Carrol's descriptive book and illustrations was a lengthy project by many Disney artists and Walt Disney himself. In spite of the amount of effort put into the movie, the Alice movie had a lackluster premiere in England followed two days later by a less than anticipated start in the Unite States. Viewers didn't feel it captured enough of the book.
2010 Movie Adaptation by Tim Burton In 2010, the Tim Burton adaptation of Alice in Wonderland made record breaking sales in early weeks at theater. Burton's movie starred Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.
