Tim Burton directs his own adaptation of Lewis Carroll's children's tale Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The movie opened in the U.S. on March 5, 2010. The movie stars actor, Johnny Depp, who also appears in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movies.http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000136/
The London opening of the movie on February 25 proceeded as scheduled after Dinsey executives made a trip to discuss the possible delays of opening. The U.K.'s largest theater chain Odeon had earlier announced they would not show the movie due to Disney cutting the amount of time between the theater showing and the DVD release, possibly cutting box office sales. Disney was able to negotiate a deal and Odeon showed the movie opening night as originally scheduled.http://arstechnica.com/media/news/2010/02/theater-chain-pushes-back-on-disney-over-early-dvd-release.ars
Alice in Wonderland earned a shocking $45 million on opening night and the following weekend brought in $120 million in sales. Sales this high would make Alice the highest sales 3D movie in initial days yet.http://www.gossipcop.com/projections-alice-in-wonderland-stuns-box-office-opening-bigger-than-avatar/

Alice in Wonderland Movie Reviews
Manohla Dargis from the New York Times says, "Mr. Depp’s strenuously flamboyant turn embodies the best and worst of Mr. Burton’s filmmaking tendencies even as the actor brings his own brand of cinematic crazy to the tea party." He also states, "This isn’t an impossible story to translate to the screen, as the Czech filmmaker Jan Svankmajer showed with “Alice” (1988), where the divide between reality and fantasy blurs as it does in dreams. It’s just hard to know why Mr. Burton, who doesn’t seem much interested in Alice, bothered."http://movies.nytimes.com/2010/03/05/movies/05alice.html
Film Critic for the LA Times, Kenneth Turan says, "It has its successful moments but it's surprisingly inert overall, more like a Burton derivative than something he actually did himself. Given the strength of Burton's imagination, it's not surprising that many of these creatures are engaging, especially if, like that rabbit, they are voiced by top British actors."http://articles.latimes.com/2010/mar/04/entertainment/la-et-alice4-2010mar04
