Alhambra is located in southern Spain at the foot of the Sierra Nevada to the west lies Granada and the north the River Darro. The entire city has been declared a national monument. Time and wars have demolished some of the structure but it is still a majestic place. Poets have referred to it as a “Pearl set in Emeralds”, with the fountains and flower gardens being kept immaculate. Washington Irving wrote a classic collection of essays and stories written about the palace called the "Tales of the Alhambra".
