Alfre Woodard is an American television and film actress. She portrayed Alice Pratt in the 2008 film, The Family That Preys.
Career
After years of work, Woodard found her breakout role in hospital drama St. Elsewhere, as Dr. Roxanne Turner (a role she would reprise a decade later in Homicide: Life on the Street). Since then, while never achieving superstar status, Woodard has turned in notable work in feature films that have often not found a large audience.
Charity Work
Woodard is a cofounder of Artists for a New South Africa, an organization that works to end AIDS in South Africa and increase democracy in the country, as well as to improve civil rights in the United States.
