• ALF was a 1980s sitcom about a suburban family that takes in an alien who has crash-landed into their garage. After his home world of Melmac is destroyed, ALF (real name "Gordon Shumway") follows an amateur radio signal to earth where he is taken care of by the Tanner family. Airing from 1986 through 1990 on NBC, the show was eventually canceled after the fourth season - although ALF's story was taken up again in the 1996 television movie Project ALF.
