Alexis georgoulis

Alexis Georgoulis was born in the Greek town Larissa on October 6, 1974. He attended the conservatory of Larissa from 1988 to 1993 where he took guitar lessons and in 1993, he started at the National Technical University of Athens to become a Civil Engineer. He started taking acting lessons in 1996 at the drama schools Stage-craft and Theater of Changes, and at the same time taking extra lessons in phonetics. While attending school, he joined a dance group called Heresis and in 1997, performed in Carmen 33. He performed with the group again in 1998 in The Return. He also took a part in 1997 with the TV series Alice in Wonderland, and another part in Death Agony in 1998. He also completed a short film No one’s Rose the same year. In 2001, he co-starred in the sitcom You are my mate in which he was the lead actor. His directing debut came in 2003 for Progressive Stage at the National Theater with the play Good Luck. While working on a performance in a Greek theatre, he was approached by an Greek casting director and asked if he would like to audition for a part in an American movie, My Life in Ruins. My Life in Ruins is a romantic comedy set amongst the ruins in Greece.http://www.freebase.com/view/en/my_life_in_ruins/-/film/film/starring Although the movie was shot in the historic ruins near Athens, it was to be in the English so Alexis Georgoulis had to quickly learn to speak English. He won the male lead role and starred in the movie with Nia Vardalos. In May 2009, they went to New York to promote the movie at the closing of the Tribeca Film Festival.
