Ukrainian-born professional ice hockey player Alexei Ponikarovsky is a left winger for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League.
Ponikarovsky was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs during the fourth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in the 2000-2001 season, during which he earned four points in 22 games. Ponikarovsky would split the next two seasons with the Leafs and their American Hockey League affiliate before joining the team full time for the 2003-2004 season.
At the end of the 2006-2007 season, the Leafs resigned Ponikarovsky to a three-year contract worth $6.3 million.
