Alexandre Dumas, père, (1802-1870), was a prolific French playwright, historian, and author, and one of the most widely read French authors in history. He wrote fiction, non-fiction, articles and dramatic plays, but is best known for his historical adventure novels. His most famous work remains his novel The Three Musketeers, the French title being Les Trois Mousquetaires.
