Alexandre Desplat is a composer who is nominated for a Best Score Oscar for his work on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but the award went to A.R. Rahman for his work on Slumdog Millionaire.
Career
Alexandre Desplat began his career composing for film and theater in France. He ultimately moved to the United States and composed on the scores for Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, The Golden Compas and Syriana.
