Alexander Kerensky

Alexander Fyodorovich Kerensky led Russia in 1917 during the 108 days between the abdication of Czar Nicholas II and the Bolsheviks' rise to power. He spent the last 53 years of his life in forced exile writing and lecturing in Europe and America.

  • 1881: Born Alexander Fyodorovich Kerensky in Simbirsk, Imperial Russia
  • 1904: Graduated Law School at St. Petersburg University
  • 1912: Elected to the Fourth Duma
  • 1916: Became increasingly vocal about his contention with the Tsar
  • 1917: March, becomes Minister of Justice of the Provisional Government
  • 1917: May, becomes Minister of War of the Provisional Government
  • 1917: July, becomes Prime Minister Provisional Government
  • 1917: The October Revolution occurs and the Bolsheviks take power
  • 1917: October 25, Kerensky escapes the Bolsheviks and goes into hiding in Finland
  • 1918: Moves to Paris, France
  • 1939: Marries Lydia Ellen Tritton
  • 1940: Escapes to the United States
  • 1966: Publishes his memoirs, The Kerenski Memoirs: Russia and History's Turning Point
  • 1970: June 11, dies in New York City
